Land of rice and temples

Over the next two days we were able to we became super tourists again.

There’s always so much to see as we drive to a destination. A holiday past recently, and the decorations called Penjor still overhanging the streets in many areas. Traffic is also organized disorder as Wade makes his way to the Jatiluwih rice terraces.

The the fields are beautiful

Since this is a big deal for tourist to do the local government charges everyone who comes into the area a fee to enter and to park.  It is one of those places that everywhere you look the symmetry of the fields lends itself to great pictures. We also stopped into a small restaurant built in the rice terraces for lunch

There is always a price to pay when you enter tourist areas

These guys have fun with the locals

This is the race at the end of the green stock

Each rotary an experience

Leaving there, we drove over to the coast and visited a temple called Tanah Lot. Again with the entrance fees, and a long walk, weaving through a maze of vendors in stores and stalls. This temple is built on a small rock island and had a steady stream of worshipers bringing gifts. No public access was allowed, but it was interesting watching those who visited walk back-and-forth through the water.
