Day One Sisyphus

The WebCam at Journeys End Marina showing Steadfast and Sheri looking at the Mountain peaks

Since my life is measured in endurance runs this last week has been epic. In a week we cleared, cleaned, framed and winterized Steadfast. That meant spending one night at the boatyard dock and one sleeping in the boat after it was put up on stands.(ask Sheri how it was sleeping on a crooked boat)

Back to Camden to partially close the house, haircuts for two, pedicure for one, oh and pack for this 2 month trip.

Curve balls do happen so after our airport ride had issues I was able to drop Sheri and the luggage off in Boston and drive to Nashua, get gas, vacuum and wash the car and get a ride from Son in law Matt to the train. After 4 hours, couple of short walks and a subway ride I made it back to Sheri. Just as I was relaxing I discovered our deposit went to the wrong bank and this had to be sorted out or checks would be bouncing everywhere. Problem mostly solved and a short sleep till 3am then a shuttle, a Dallas flight, a mile and a half cross airport run and we were just about the last on the Shanghai flight.

5 hours later……

I just looked at the time in Boston and we have been on the move for 12 hours. The hotel shuttle was the most turbulence so far. Now crossing into Alaska with only 10 hours left. That will be 24 hours once we arrive to Zongda, Lindsey, Sophia and newborn Benson’s apartment. One movie, parts of two books and two meals later I feel the waves of grogginess cloud my thoughts. We booked premium seats and that was just what I needed. A package of perks includes headphones, pillow and blanket as well as oversized seats. There are a host of gadgets for me to figure out so hopefully I can stay entertained 36000 ft. up as the Alaskan peaks pass by.

I am trying to not get too excited but it’s going to be a great trip that meets the criteria of “Is the juice worth the squeeze … yup yup.
